Whether we want to admit it or not, first impressions are very important. This applies not only to us personally, but also to our home. And, literally the first thing our guests see is our front door. How much have you thought about what your front door says about you?
Hand-carved, minimalist, pompous, reduced, eccentric, fashionable, pretentious or completely inconspicuous, human diversity and creativity are not lacking here either.
We believe that a person's attitude towards one sphere of life is often literally reflected in all the others, ie the one who likes to pay attention to details in the interior and exterior of his home, often acts the same in other areas and interpersonal relationships. Anyways, this post isn't for those who don't like to be "bothered with such trivia" :)
Even for lay fans of psychology, let alone someone who is professionally engaged in this field, it is completely clear that the front door depicts people living in the home behind them. Of course, if you live in a building, the possibility that you can choose the look of your front door is not great, but the doormat in front of them or the type of lettering on them, can say a lot.
Psychologists usually deal with color as a reflection of character and temperament, which is of course correct. But let's not forget the overall style that the owners decide on. Sometimes subconsciously, but often very consciously, people choose what they strive for, what they think represents them in the best light, ie. how they would like others to see them. That is why it is not surprising that there is an extremely large range of various solutions.
This topic is certainly interesting to us, so today we are sharing with you some interesting facts and solutions.
Red color – it emphasizes the active and cheerful spirit of your family, but it can also have a rather aggressive tone, so be careful with the shade, and think about how it fits with the rest of the exterior and the style of architecture. If you hit the right ratio, the result can be extremely attractive, or should we say very Instagrammable.
If you are a fan of the color red and warm shades in general, and intense red might be too much for you, consider its more reduced, traditional variants, burgundy, maroon, brick red shades...
Pink color - the color most often associated with femininity, but also the color of universal love. Soft pink in combination with lighter pastel shades of gray or sand, or on the contrary, bright pink in combination with e.g. shades of dark gray, black and/or white, the options are various. Your personal boldness, tenderness and playfulness will certainly come to the fore.
White color – the most common color of front doors, and not by chance. Doors like this are associated with cleanliness, neatness and sophistication, but in order not to fall into the trap of the impression of sterility. Do not be afraid of additional accents!
Black color –emphasizes the spirit of tradition, exudes formality, but also elegance, which will certainly be further emphasized by combining it with gold or brass details. Supporters of the feng shui interior design philosophy associate the black color with the water element and deep wisdom, and believe that those who use this color for their front door will attract positive energy and prosperity.
Grey color - this is a very modern and elegant door color option. Depending on the design, whether it is a light or dark shade of this color, as well as matching with the rest of the exterior and materials, doors in this color can have one of a hundred faces, from luxuriously traditional to minimalist contemporary.
Green color – there are various shades, and in general all of them are associated with harmony and freshness. Green is also popular because of the established opinion that it attracts or associate with wealth and prosperity. Our advice is same as for the red - don't be too intense. Mint variants, but also dark greens are a great solution.
Yellow color – it would definitely make you stand out in the environment. It exudes energy, cheerful spirit, positivity. If it nicely complements the rest of the home and if the impressiveness and attractiveness of the home is at the top of your priority list, it is an excellent solution.
Orange color - if curb appeal is what you're after, orange is the color for you. This warm, lively color encourages and highlights your creativity and individuality, motivates, raises your energy level...
Blue color – the range of shades of blue is impressive, and this color evokes a feeling of trust and welcome, whichever shade you choose. Darker ones usually give the impression of elegance and refined taste, and lighter ones give the impression of intimacy, peace and openness, but the shade is not the only one that determines whether the final impression will be one of sophistication or will evoke the spirit of the Mediterranean in the viewer's eye. The overall style you decide on certainly has a big impact.
Violet color - the color of elegance, wisdom, the color of tenderness, the color of an open spirit... Doors in this color carry with them a different kind of impression compared to, say, red and orange, but thanks to them, your home will surely be noticed, whether you choose a gentle lavender or a rich shade of blue eggplant.
Natural wood color – depending on the style, these doors can look very rustic or extremely modern and sophisticated. What is certain is that wood is a material that will certainly never go out of fashion. In any case, in combination with dark metal elements, doors in natural wood color can be a perfect, attractive and long-lasting solution.
