Colors have the power to affect our mood, and that's why it is very important to chose them wisely: they should reflect your character, but also they should encourage appropriate atmosphere in each individual room.
Color Of The Day - Yellow!
Our theme today is Yellow - the color of the Sun, energy, intellect, the color of awakening optimism and speeding up the metabolism. This color is great for kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, and we know from experience that it looks great in living rooms as well. It is only necessary to be careful with the shades you use and, of course, the amount of yellow in the room.
The yellow color is certainly extremely attractive for photography and various types of artistic experimentation, as in the example above (monochromatic interior proposal). But in real life, at least in the case of this color, we really should apply the rule "less is more".
DIY
Most often, people go for the most obvious way to refresh the space with this color - yellow cushions, or possibly yellow draperies. And those solutions are more than fine. But today, we have prepared for you several ideas on how to do it a little bolder, and for each of the ideas you'll only need a adhesive paper tape, some paint, a brush, a roller and some good mood
# Yellow intervention Nº1
To begin with, we suggest a very decorative and very affordable intervention - with some paper tape and paint, "finish" some of your thrift shop catches yourself. By this we mean framed pictures, which you can often find at one of the flea markets, at extremely reasonable prices. The rule for this intervention is: the more pompous the framed work, the more baroque the motif (landscape or portrait), the better the effect.
Step by Step:
The first step, therefore, is to find a suitable picture, preferably with a gold frame (if it is in some other inappropriate color, paint it gold, you will thank us later).
Cover the border between the painted part and the part you will leave in its original appearance with paper adhesive tape.
Paint over the desired part of the picture completely, including the frame, to achieve the impression that the entire picture is dipped in a bucket of paint, et voilà!
If you are adventurous and want to raise the stakes a bit further, you can also paint part of the wall behind, part of the ceiling above, and part of the furniture below the picture, in the same shade and to the same border as you've done to the painting (example on the photo above). For us, yellow is the best option for this, because it certainly leaves the most cheerful impression on the observer, and it is up to you to judge whether you will play with another color instead.
# Yellow intervention Nº2
Eternal favorites - stripes! Stripes will certainly bring excitement to your space, and this time we suggest that you lay them in a somewhat non-standard position, i.e. diagonally. Stripes directed in this way, especially in yellow color, bring incredible warmth and optimism to the interior, and can be a great background for a gallery on the wall. It will certainly take you a little time to place the tape before applying the stripes with a brush or even better with a roller, but you will definitely be very happy with what you have achieved. Another option would be to find yellow and white striped wallpaper and put them diagonally, which in any case requires a little more dexterity.
# Yellow intervention Nº3
An extremely effective and simple way to refresh your hallway or staircase is to paint only part of it yellow. You will get an instant impression of additional light and warmth. The look of purity, brightness, optimism, what more could you want?
# Yellow intervention Nº4
For a slightly more theatrical effect in the bedroom, define the space with a simple stripe across the width of the headboard in warm yellow, and extend it across the ceiling as well. If the rest of the space is reduced, in white, soft gray and sand color with elements in a contrasting dark shade, you will get a fantastic effect of a thoughtful, modern and designed space.
# Yellow intervention Nº5
The so-called yellow zoning in different rooms of the apartment and in different forms refreshes the interior with a touch of playfulness and boldness. We fully support you in this!
# Yellow intervention Nº6
If you decide to also transfer the yellow color to the part of the furniture, the effect will be even stronger!
# Yellow intervention Nº7
And, finally, be playful with the details in this fantastic color.
Be imaginative and free, refresh the old pieces you already have with interesting interventions, or go on an adventure through antique shops or flea markets, and paint the discovered jewels with this exciting and grateful color in the form of, for example, old baroque candlesticks, unusual pendants, unpaired chairs, attractive chests of drawers...
Let your imagination loose!
